Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.
I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.
Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.

Mode 9 is not the only one that does the non-commercial kind of rap. Basically if you are an entertainer you can’t do music for yourself that’s why you are an entertainer.
If people you are made to entertain are not entertained, you should do one of two things…get another job or adapt’! I'm not saying this to be funny or anything. If something is not working anymore the least you can do is try and adapt to what’s up.

Angry Fans Stone Wizkid At VFS Lekki
Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid was today stoned by angry fans at the VFS Global Services, Lekki phase 1 over the Azonto Crooner's arrogant attitude and his refusal to part away with some naira notes despite the much accolades he got from the cheering crowd who were so elated to catch a glimpse of their Superstar.
Wizkid who was dressed in a White T-shirt and a Red Sofa Shoe without any cap or sunglasses came in a black coloured Porshce Cayenne with covered number plates, the starboi who must have been sneaked into the VFS Compund came out into the waiting hands of a large number of cheering fans who wanted to shake and snap pictures with Wizkid. Obviously they wanted some naira notes as well #TypicalNaijaWay.
We confirmed that Wizkid who must have had his mind made up came outside the VFS Compound where he had gone to submit travelling documents for Canada and shunned the cheering crowd. All efforts to get Wizkid to snap pictures, shake or even show "some love" financially to the cheering crowd fell on deaf ears as Starboi completely ignored everyone as he walked arrogantly into the waiting Porsche Cayenne.
A Correspondent who was at the scene confirmed that Wizkid's silence and arrogant attitude got the cheering fans pissed hence why they resulted into stoning the BET Award winner as he made to drive out. Unfortunately for Wizkid, one of the many stones caught his car side glass but the Pakurumo crooner never waited a second ***Escape Thingz***
The angry fans who complained bitterly placed a comparison between Wizkid and Durosoke Crooner, Olamide. They argued that Olamide would never ignore his fans as he constantly relates with the street hence why he's never been mobbed or attacked.

Akwa Ibom LG Chairman Arrested For Smuggling $82,000 Into USA
Nse Ntuen, was arrested on Friday by operatives of the Maryland State Police Department at the BWI International Airport, Baltimore. According to the Police, he declared only $5,000 before the rest of the money was found in his bag.
He later admitted he truly smuggled the money into the country with the aim to use it as donations at the just-concluded Annual International Convention of the Akwa Ibom Indigenes in the United States and Canada which was held at the Marriot Hotel in Washington, DC on saturday. He was later released after 5 hours in custody and the money seized.

Ex-minister Femi Fani Kayode mentioned names of three former Igbo girlfriends in an article he wrote a few days back to prove he wasn't tribalistic and has nothing against the Igbos. People felt mentioning their names was disrespectful to the women. He has apologized. Find his statement below
'Chief Femi Fani-Kayode hereby expresses his deepest regrets for mentioning the names of three distinguished Nigerian ladies that he was once associated with in his last article titled ''A Word For Those Who Say I am A Tribalist''. He meant no harm by doing so and neither did he at any point make references to having had any sexual relations with any of these ladies when they were associated with him as is being suggested by some members of the public. He was simply trying to emphasise the fact that he has nothing against the igbo people and that his friendship with these three ladies in particular over the years provided some evidence of that.For the record he has not seen Madame Chioma Anasoh, Chief Adaobi Kate Uchegbu and Ambassador Bianca Onoh in many years and he admits that it was inappropiate for him to have mentioned their names in the essay, to use them as a point of reference in a public discussion or to make any references whatsoever to the nature of their past association. "FG can't meet ASUU's N92b demand' - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says
Minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala said yesterday during the opening of the two-day meeting of Commissioners of Finance and Accountants-General of States, that the federal government can't meet the N92billion being demanded by ASUU.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said
“At present, ASUU wants the Federal Government to pay N92 billion in extra allowances, when the resources are not there, and when we are working to integrate past increases in pensions. We need to make choices in this country as we are getting to the stage where recurrent expenditures take the bulk of our resources and people get paid but can do no work. Since I assumed office, the share of recurrent expenditure in our total budgets had increased astronomically. In fact, recurrent expenditure accounted for about 77.2 per cent of the federal budget and we are now working to re-balance this ratio.So what does this mean? Students will continue to stay at home?
The country is still suffering from the effect of the 2010 increase in salary. Do we want to get to a stage in this country that all the money we earn is used to pay salaries and allowances? If the demands of the university lecturers are met and we continue to pay them salaries and allowances, we will not be able to provide infrastructure in the universities.”

Verification: Edo teacher can’t read own certificate
BENIN CITY — IT was drama, Tuesday,
at the venue of the verification of certificates of primary school teachers in
Edo State, as a teacher in Asologun Primary School, Ikpoba Okha Local
Government Area of the state, Mrs. Augusta Odemwinge could not read a sworn
affidavit she purportedly tendered as part of her credentials.
The state governor, Mr. Adams
Oshiomhole, who paid an unscheduled visit to the state Staff Training Centre,
venue of the exercise, said “if you can’t read, what do you teach the pupils,
what do you write on the board?”
Chairman of the state Nigeria Union
of Teachers, Mr. Patrick Ikosimi, who was also at the screening to monitor the
exercise, said that the woman’s failure was “an embarrassment.”
On arrival at the centre, the
governor took time to peruse some of the teacher’s credentials and documents
presented.
When Mrs. Odenwingie took her turn
during the exercise, the governor, who listened to her defence, asked her to
read the affidavit she presented, but she stuttered, to the consternation of
everybody around.
Ikosimi, who described Mrs.
Odemwingie’s failure to read a document she presented as an embarrassment, said
the union was in tune with the state government on the need to sanitise the
school system.
He said: “We are committed to
partnering the government to reposition education in the state. What this
teacher has just displayed is a show of shame; it shows the decadence in the
education sector.
“As the chairman of NUT, I had
written to the governor that we are in total support of what he is doing.
“He should properly involve the NUT,
so that together we can fish out the culprits, who are not viable as far as the
system is concerned,” he said.
The teacher, when asked to repeat a sentence she didn’t read well replied in ‘pigin’ English saying “make I start am afresh”.

Lagos State's New Domestic Violence Law - Beat Your Woman, Land In Jail!
It is now, officially, an offense for any man to hit his woman in Lagos State.
And it doesn't matter if you two are legally married, as long as you are living together in a home setting.
According to the deputy governor of Lagos State, Hon Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the new Domestic Violence Law protects women who are most times the target of violence in the home and also
safeguards the interest of men, children, servants, maids and everyone who may be a victim of domestic violence.
Here's what happens when there's a case of domestic violence:
- Remove the abuser from the home pending when the abuse is corrected
- Or remove the complainant from the residence and put in a protective home
- Provision of financial assistance by the state via the Office of the Public Defender/Legal Aid Council to victims of abuse who maybe financially unable to seek redress in court.
- The court can issue warrant of arrest and remand order
